William Holden (2) - Man From Colorado

I liked this movie.  William Holden is a very flexible actor.  In the last movie, he played a "starving" Hollywood writer. In this movie, he plays a Federal Marshall after the Civil War.  I wasn't sure this movie was going to hold me captivated enough for my treadmill workout, but in the end it did.  This movie is pretty violent with hangings and shootings, but since it's an old show, it is not too graphic.  I think my husband and boys would like this movie too.

William Holden (1) - Sunset Boulevard

I finally did it!  I watched this movie starring William Holden.  I've tried several times to watch this movie, but it just wasn't exciting enough to keep me entertained on the treadmill.  I was able to watch this movie for 28 minutes while walking on the treadmill the other morning, but I couldn't make it any longer.  So, I decided to watch another dvd, but went back to this movie later in the day while I worked on my kid's scrapbooks.  

I want to say, I'm glad I watched this movie, but it is definitely not an exciting movie.  It was fine for watching while I was working on a project.

I would consider it high drama, as far as Gloria Swanson is concerned.  She was an aging, wealthy actress from the times of silent movies.  She "kind of" holds William Holden captive, first to help her write a screen play and then as a companion.  You'll have to watch it to see what I mean by high drama, but have a project ready to work on while you watch it

Witness For The Protection

Just watched the Agatha Christie movie Witness For The Protection.  It is worth watching and a good one for kids too... especially a child that is interested in court cases.

The Majestic with Jim Carrey

 

This morning I finished watching the movie The Majestic starring Jim Carrey.  I was about to quit watching it after about 10 minutes, but then it got exciting, so I stuck with it.  I ended up really liking the movie and think it's one that my kids should watch too!

High Drama

 As you know, I like to watch movies while I walk on the treadmill in the morning.  This is the show I started watching yesterday and finished this morning.  It was about two sisters, Stanley and Roy, and the drama in their lives.  It kept me moving on the treadmill, and this morning I couldn't wait to get up and finish it.   It was a good one!

Be The Leading Lady Of Your Own Life!

I watch this movie every Christmas season.  I'm not sure why I like it so much, but it gets to me.  I think it may be that Iris' relationship with Jasper reminds me of a relationship I had with a guy from college.  And, when I got the GUMPTION to tell him not to call me anymore.  Or, it could be Iris' cozy English cottage that Amanda stays in while she's in England.  I'd love to live in a house like that.  One of my favorite lines from the movie is be the leading lady of your own life - I think I'm going to start living like that!   Whatever it is about this movie, I like it... I just wish it were a little bit more nice than naughty because I'd love for Blossom #1 to be able to watch it.

They Just Don't Make Them Like They Used To!

I love watching movies, especially while I'm walking on the treadmill in the morning.  And, like today, while I'm doing a little sewing.  Like my title said, they just don't make the movies today as well as they used to... this movie is a prime example.  It, of course, had my two favorites... suspense and romance.  And, just so you know, I usually don't like Marilyn Monroe movies, but she was perfect in this one and the rest of the cast were great too!

Black Widow

I was expecting this old movie to be more like the modern version of the Black Widow, but it was not.  Suspense and romance made this a great movie to watch on the treadmill this morning.  Starring:  Ginger Rogers, Van Heflin, Gene Tierney and George Raft.  I really enjoyed it!

Strangers on a Train

Every morning when I get up, I hit the treadmill for some exercise.  And, to make my exercise time a little more enjoyable, I watch dvds.  My routine is to order dvds through our local library system, which allows me access to dvds in other libraries, as well as my own.  I don't watch all of the dvds because once they arrive at the library they don't look interesting, others I watch for only 10 minutes... if the movie hasn't captured my attention after 10 minutes, I move on to another dvd.  So, anyway, I'm not sure why I liked this movie, but it may have been that I had already started watching 2 dvds prior to this one that didn't make the 10 minute cut and this one finally took my mind off the treadmill.  I ended up watching all of Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers on the Train and thought this is a great creepy movie for the month of October.  Yes, there is murder.  Yes, there is romance.  No, it's not in color.  I would say that for a person that likes suspense without gore, this would be an enjoyable movie.   There is a remake of this movie called Once You Kiss A Stranger - I think I may have to check it out.
